I received my preordered copy of the newest (16th) edition of The Chicago Manual of Style right before leaving to teach at the Montrose Christian Writers' Conference last week. But I'm back now, and ready to dive in and find out what's changed. I'll be posting on this blog some of the things I discover. Here's the first!

CMOS 7.76 now has "web" lowercased (except when it's part of the World Wide Web). So "Web page" is now "web page." And "Web site" is now (according to CMOS) one word: "website."

Since Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary still lists "Web site," this is currently a contradiction between the two resources. However, I suspect that when Webster's releases their next edition, they'll have "website" too.
